      <image:title>Our Vision - Black is Excellence</image:title>
<image:caption>There are very few people that make it in the world without the help of others. As the Black community continues to adapt and move forward, we want to make sure that no one is being left behind. The Tag You’re It Program (TYIP) is a flexible yet structured program that gives young students support in reaching a post secondary educational institution. We know that our scholars will excel in a myriad of ways and want to be able to provide them with the resources and knowledge they do not have access to. We mean it when we say “Tag You Are it” because you will change the world; however, we also mean it in a literal sense. Just as we have helped our scholars in their journey, we expect them to do the same. That is why “you are it” and you must tag other people below you, helping them up the ladder of success. We know that you will be agents to changing the world, and we want to do everything in our power as your mentors and peers to elevate you to the next level. — Eric Mason Founder, Mentor</image:caption>

      <image:title>Executive Cabinet - Kanicia Green | Executive Director</image:title>
<image:caption>Kanicia Green was born and raised on the low income north side of Springfield, Illinois. She attended Lanphier High School where she graduated 12th in her class and scored in the 85th percentile on her ACT. She was accepted to over 60 American universities and received several scholarship offers totalling over hundreds of thousands of dollars. She ultimately chose the historically black university Howard University in Washington, D.C where she earned her B.S. in Biology, double minoring in chemistry and mathematics. She earned Magna Cum Laude honors. During her time at Howard, she was initiated into Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Alpha Chapter where she served as the Step Mistress and Corresponding Secretary for the chapter. Additionally, she tutored in biology and chemistry and participated in several biology research projects and mentoring programs. After graduation from Howard, Kanicia was offered a post bac position at the National Institute of Health, which she later declined to further her education at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She now studies here as a first year medical student in hopes of becoming an OBGYN. She also volunteers as a coach for the Capital City Dance Team.</image:caption>
